A Big Step Toward a Cleaner City: New Waste Management Facilities Take Shape in Osh
🔹 On August 28, 2026, a series of high-profile events took place in Osh, attended by Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh Marlen Mamataliev, Mayor of Osh Zhanarbek Akaev, and a number of deputies from the Jogorku Kenesh and the city council.
🔹 Officials attended the opening ceremony for the city’s newly renovated roads and toured the construction site of the new waste-processing plant, reviewing progress on the broader project to modernize Osh’s solid waste management infrastructure.
🔹 Major construction work is now well underway. The new sanitary landfill, spanning a substantial area, is designed for the safe, controlled disposal of waste.
🔹 In parallel, work is nearing completion on the closure and rehabilitation of the old landfill. The bulk of the work has already been finished, with the final stage now focused on installing the vegetative protective cover.
🔹 Once complete, the new infrastructure will improve waste management safety, ensure controlled disposal, and reduce the environmental impact of the existing landfill.
