The “Geroy” Regulating Reservoir Reopens in Kadamzhai District
As part of a working visit to Batken region, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Erlist Akunbekov took part in the reopening ceremony marking the completion of reconstruction works at the “Geroy” daily regulating reservoir (DRR) in the village of Ak-Turpak, Kadamzhai district. The news was reported by the Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry.
The reservoir is located in the Zhetigen area of Ak-Turpak rural district and has a capacity of 84 000 cubic meters. The project will improve the supply of irrigation water to 1,500 hectares of agricultural land in the village of Kyrgyz-Kyshtak, Moldo-Niyaz rural district.
Mechanical cleaning works totaling 1,852,458 cubic meters were carried out at the reservoir, along with reinforcement of the embankment slopes. The works were financed through the national budget.
With continued government support, substantial funding is allocated each year for the repair, modernization, and construction of irrigation infrastructure: 520 million soms in 2021, 1.4 billion soms in 2025, and 10.3 billion soms budgeted for 2026, of which 1.6 billion has been disbursed to date.
